Effective now on all winterized #2 diesels, which is all of our diesel sales unless the customer specifically asks for something different is 1 gallon of ValveTech additive to 750 gallons of #2 diesel. At that rate, even with the poor quality #2 we’ve been getting (up to 15 cloud point, should be 0 by this time of year) our Winterized #2 should be good to 20 to 25 below cold filter plug point (CFPP). Adding #1 today isn’t the same as adding #1 in years past. Today you’re lucky if #1 has a cloud point of -15, where it used to always be -40 cloud point. Ridiculous. If somebody does insist on #1 in their fuel it still needs to be additized at 1 to 750 if it’s going in with #2. B20 Biodiesel will be blended 20% Biodiesel 20% #1, 60% #2 and winter additive of 1 to 75 in B100 which is 1 to 375 in the B20. At that blend rate the B20 should be good to -20 cold filter plug point (CFPP). When somebody does gel up the best way to degel is with PowerKleen (or wait till it warms up). You mix 50/50 PowerKleen and diesel in the filter and add 1 gallon of PowerKleen to 50 gallons of diesel in the fuel tank, let the truck idle for 10 minutes, then at 1000 rpm for 10 minutes and the engine should run fine (PowerKleen also cleans up the fuel system). |
